You’ve heard of the Valley in LA, but we bet you haven’t heard about it’s amazing bar scene! Our team rounded up the Best Bars to in the Valley where drinks are a little less pricey, and the vibe is totally top shelf.

Trust us, these places are worth the trip over the hill!

1. Rocco’s Tavern – Studio City

Rocco’s Tavern has several locations throughout Los Angeles, but the Studio City spot is Diana’s favorite by far. It’s a chill local spot to hang out on the weekends, or to watch some sports. The menu, featuring pizza, wings, and other quick bites, is perfect for dinner with friends, or a drunk bite (try the white fries)! Plus, they’ve got the best Happy Hour specials with two for one drinks! Rocco’s Tavern is located at 12514 Ventura Blvd in Studio City.

2. Mexicali Cocina & Cantina – Studio City

Mexicali Cocina & Cantina’s is one of the best bars in The Valley. We can not say enough about the friendly bartenders and servers here – they’ll make you feel at home at this neighborhood bar. There’s also the top notch Mexican food. Their nachos, topped with cheese, salsa, guac, black beans, and more are the best in Los Angeles. If you pair it with their house made Sangria, consider it the perfect complete meal. Mexicali Cocina & Cantina is located at 12161 Ventura Blvd in Studio City.

3. Laurel Tavern – Studio City

If you’re looking for a bar with a relaxed and refined atmosphere, Laurel Tavern is the place. It’s a bar that’s classy enough for business outings, inviting for large groups and birthday parties, and it also sets the tone for a first date (our contributor may have made it theirs!). Their menu of craft drinks has something to please everyone. And, if you’re hungry, they’ve got a great selection of gastropub favorites. Laurel Tavern is located at 11938 Ventura Blvd in Studio City.

4. Mr. Furley’s – Sherman Oaks

Mr. Furley’s is the go-to spot for drinks and gaming. It’s the hangout you’ll want to bring out-of-towners because of its fun  vibe and non-stop party feels! Passing by Mr Furley’s you’ll immediately notice the lively action between the barstools. Their tasty food and drink on their reasonably priced menu is well worth the visit. Mr. Furley’s is located at 14649 Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks.

5. Idle Hour – North Hollywood

You’ll be drawn to visit Idle Hour when you pass the bar’s whiskey barrel shaped exterior. Inside you’ll learn that this bar has a rich history. For example, the establishment has been around since 1941 and the decor is dedicated to the programmatic architecture of years past. I mean, there is no way to miss the enormous dog smoking a tobacco pipe, which makes for an amusing Instagram moment! They also have a huge tap selection and bar eats. Idle Hour is located at 4824 Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood.

6. Catcher in the Rye – Toluca Lake

Catcher in the Rye’s literature theme makes it one of the most unique bars in The Valley. Avid readers will appreciate the menu items (like The Tequila Mockingbird, and Stay Gold Ponyboy) that are a nod to beloved books and authors. They’ve also got a great selection of board games to enjoy while you’re there. Catcher in the Rye is located at 10550 Riverside Drive in Toluca Lake.

7. Black Market Liquor Bar – Studio City

Want to impress a friend with a swanky local spot? Bring them to Black Market Liquor Bar in Studio City. Chef Antonia Lofaso of Top Chef fame offers a mouthwatering tapas style menu. We loved  the Burrata, Fried Cauliflower, and Dill Potato Chips. Plus, the Deep-Fried Fluffernutter (pictured) is a MUST for dessert! Black Market Liquor Bar is located at 11915 Ventura Blvd in Studio City.
